Makerspace Redesign

The Makerspace is a place where students of Penn College can go to work on class or personal projects. For my design I chose to focus on the hand held tool aspect of the makerspace rather than the use of machines. The reason behind this decision was to keep the concept simple so new students could recognize the space. The color red was used to inspire confidence in students. The font used is Proxima Nova, with an emphasis on the makerspace portion of the workshop.

Makerspace Symbols

The Makerspace has seven separate sections, which include: metalworking, woodworking, welding, laser cutting, spray booth/abrasive, sewing, and 3D printing. The color choice for these symbols would represent the amount of protective gear needed, with red needing the most amount and purple needing almost nothing. The design for the symbols was the use of repeating shapes to show movement and size, while the overall design wouldn’t show the whole tool but an up-close rendering of each.
